Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year is the most important celebration of the year. The Chinese people follow the lunar calendar and the new year is held in January or February. It is held to welcome the new year and bring good luck. People celebrate by holding lanterns and by wearing red clothes and giving children lucky money in envelopes. They also get together and have dinner with each other and some of the people dress up and dance in the streets. People need to take time off work to get together to celebrate.
